Stepfather Arrested After Fleeing Sexual Assault Charges
A 40-year-old stepfather was arrested in Phatthalung after fleeing sexual assault charges involving his 16-year-old stepdaughter in January, with police tracking him across provinces before apprehending him in Na Thaom subdistrict.
On August 10, 2025, police arrested a 40-year-old man named Anucha (surname withheld) in Na Thaom subdistrict, Muang district, Phatthalung province. He had been evading a court arrest warrant issued on April 28, 2025, on charges of sexual assault with violence and threats against a person unable to resist.
The case began when the victim's mother reported the incident to Kok Changai Police Station. She explained that on January 6, 2025, her 16-year-old daughter woke to find the stepfather near her bed and he quickly left the room. The victim later experienced pain in her genital area but was initially afraid to tell her mother. Two days later, the daughter reported that the stepfather had entered her room while she slept, embraced her, and grabbed her chest. She managed to resist and escape the room to seek help.
Investigators gathered evidence and obtained an arrest warrant. When the suspect learned of the charges, he fled to Samut Prakan province before returning to rent a house in Phatthalung again, believing the matter had been forgotten. Police tracked him continuously until locating and arresting him. He has denied the allegations and has been handed over to Kok Changai Police Station for further legal proceedings.
