Thai Teen Norton Falls to World No. 1 Wang at Asian Games
Thai teen Norton Thitiphat Prichayan lost to world No. 1 Wang Zhu Qin 4-2 in the Asian Games men's singles Round of 32, despite winning the opening game and briefly leveling the match at 2-2.
Sixteen-year-old Thai table tennis player Norton Thitiphat Prichayan competed fiercely against world No. 1 Wang Zhu Qin, a former world champion and Olympic gold medalist, in the men's singles Round of 32 at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya 2026 at Sky Hall Toyota on September 25. Norton took the first game 11-3, but Wang countered by winning games two and three 11-6 and 11-4. Norton responded strongly to level the match 2-2 with an 11-8 victory in game four. Wang then nearly flawless in game five, winning 11-2 to go up 3-2 before closing out game six to win the match. Norton finished his Asian Games debut representing Thailand's main national team with a Round of 32 exit, losing 2-4 to the world's top player with games scores of 11-6, 4-11, 6-11, 11-8, 2-11, and 5-11.
