Man Sets House Fire, Guns Found; One Dead in Bangkok
A man set his own house fire in Bangkok's Bang Phlat District on September 25, then fired at emergency responders while police discovered explosives and military weapons on the property; one body was found inside.
One body was found inside a house after a man set his own home on fire in Soi Charoen Sanitwong 67, Bang Phlat District, Bangkok, on the morning of September 25. Bang Phlad Police Station received the report when neighbors witnessed the man acting erratically and setting the fire themselves. Police, fire department personnel, and rescue teams rushed to the scene to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby houses.
While emergency responders were working, the suspect fired gunshots at them from a distance, forcing all personnel to take cover. The house belongs to a retired military officer with the rank of Brigadier General, and the suspect is his son. Officers were unable to enter the house immediately because they discovered what appeared to be explosive devices hanging around the property, as well as multiple military-grade firearms inside. Bomb disposal experts were called in to investigate.
One death has been reported inside the house, with authorities still conducting their initial investigation. Officials have sealed off the area and are urgently evacuating residents living in the nearby vicinity to safety.
