Thai Zoo Celebrates Swift Rescue of 13 Deer From Flood
A Thai zoo donated 13 fallow deer to a national sanctuary after government officials rescued them from floodwaters following a social media alert on September 29.
Siam Zoo management expressed gratitude to Natural Resources and Environment Minister Suchat Chomklin for helping rescue 13 fallow deer from floodwaters and relocating them to a safe area. The zoo has agreed to transfer all 13 deer to the Organization of Thailand's National Zoo for Royally-Patronized Care for proper ongoing management.
On September 29, Suchat revealed that after images and messages about the distressed deer circulated on social media, he immediately ordered officials from the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation to rush to the scene and rescue all the animals. After the successful rescue operation, Arthchai Leunguamarlert, the general manager of Siam Zoo, called to personally thank the minister and the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry for responding so quickly to information from social media.
Arthchai stated that he was grateful to Suchat and the ministry team for their rapid response and coordination in dispatching staff to the area immediately. He praised the teamwork, saying it allowed all 13 deer to be safely removed from danger and secured quickly.
Suchat remarked that when animals are in distress, immediate help is essential because every life matters. The ministry stands ready to provide full support to ensure all animals are protected.
Arthchai announced that Siam Zoo wishes to donate the 13 fallow deer to the Organization of Thailand's National Zoo for Royally-Patronized Care under the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry for proper long-term care. The zoo also intends to donate several other animal species to the ministry for appropriate ongoing management, strengthening cooperation in sustainable animal welfare.
