The Department of Livestock has introduced the Suphannahong certification mark to elevate safety standards for Thai chicken eggs, guaranteeing salmonella-free, fresh and clean eggs safe to eat raw. The initiative uses egg labeling technology linked to a traceability system that tracks eggs back to individual farms, building consumer confidence and strengthening Thai livestock products globally.
Somchuan Rattanamanglananth, Director-General of the Department of Livestock, chaired the launch event for the project "Building Confidence in Agricultural and Food Products" at the Eastin Grand Hotel Phayathai in Bangkok. Government officials, private sector representatives, farmers, and business operators attended, with exhibitions on safe egg production, academic seminars, and cooking demonstrations designed to reassure consumers.
Rattanamanglananth explained that the Department of Livestock has continuously worked to raise standards for Thai livestock products. The Suphannahong mark represents the department's certification standard for chicken eggs, ensuring food safety by strictly controlling and eliminating salmonella from the source. Certified eggs meet quality standards safe for raw or minimal-cooking consumption. The egg labeling technology supports a traceability system allowing consumers to track individual eggs back to their farms, with quality control maintained across the entire production chain—from breeding farms and hatcheries to standardized layer farms, collection and grading centers, and authorized distribution points nationwide through the Livestock OK network.
Beyond the official launch, the event featured academic discussions on egg standards, traceability, and food safety, along with exhibitions showcasing egg production from farm management to code printing, traceability systems, and certification procedures. Cooking demonstrations shared knowledge and understanding of egg product standards.
The Department of Livestock is coordinating with farmers, businesses, and related agencies to develop high-quality, standardized livestock products with traceable origins. The Suphannahong mark is a key strategy to elevate Thai livestock standards, reflecting the department's commitment to using digital technology to strengthen traceability throughout the production chain, building consumer trust while increasing value and sustainability for Thailand's egg industry in high-standard markets.
