Thailand Launches Cost-of-Living Relief Program in Udon Thani
Thailand's Commerce Ministry launched a nationwide cost-of-living relief campaign offering discounts up to 60% on essential goods through 130 wholesale-retail stores across all 77 provinces from August 1-15.
The Commerce Ministry launched the 'Thai Helping Thai x Local Low Cost' campaign on August 1, 2569 (2026) at Tangngi Sun Superstore in Nadi District, Udon Thani Province. Poonpong Nayanapakaranont, director-general of the Department of Business Development, announced that the initiative brings together provincial officials, the SME Promotion Office, the Thai Wholesale-Retail Association, local retailers, manufacturers, and distributors nationwide to ease the financial burden on consumers while supporting Thai business operators.
The campaign builds on the success of the previous 'Thai Helping Thai Cost-Reduction' program and runs from August 1–15, 2569 through 130 local wholesale-retail stores with over 800 branches across all 77 provinces. Consumers can access essential goods and products from SMEs at discounts of up to 60%, with promotional vouchers valued at over 5 million baht available for future purchases. The initiative is projected to generate at least 100 million baht in economic circulation while reducing living costs and boosting Thai business income.
The program includes promotional support through logos identifying participating stores, media coverage both online and offline, local broadcast vehicles, and collaboration with local influencers. Tangngi Sun Superstore, which operates 34 years in Udon Thani's Mueang and Nadi districts, serves as a model local retailer with a network of over 2,500 member shops across the Northeast. It functions as a distribution hub connecting Thai manufacturers, SME operators, and local retailers with quality goods at competitive prices, exemplifying the Commerce Ministry's commitment to professional business development.
