Xu Kai Charms Thai Fans at Spring of The Blade Event
Chinese actor Xu Kai charmed Thai fans at a Bangkok meet-and-greet for the iQIYI series "Spring of The Blade," discussing his dual-personality character and performing interactive activities at Siam Paragon.
iQIYI International held the "iQIYI Starship: Spring of The Blade Meet and Greet in Thailand" at Siam Paragon in Bangkok, bringing together lead actor Xu Kai and theme song artists Xiao Aqi and Kang Ziqi. The event featured in-depth character discussions, analysis of key scenes, live musical performances, and interactive fan activities that transported Thai viewers into the story of "Spring of The Blade."
The series, directed by Pan Anzi and starring Xu Kai and Zhou Ye, began streaming on iQIYI in September. It follows characters Shen Run and Xie Qingyuan as they uncover a cold case and confront family secrets. Their relationship evolves from mutual suspicion and mistrust to understanding and cooperation as they work together to reveal hidden truths amid power games and growing feelings.
At the event, Xu Kai explained how he portrayed the dual personalities of Shen Run and Yan Rui through vocal nuances, eye expressions, and body language, comparing their dynamic to a blade and sheath—equally strong and constantly clashing, gradually developing from wariness to trust and support.
The program featured highlights including key scenes such as Yan Rui's first appearance, a pivotal rain-soaked rescue moment, and scenes that deepened the characters' relationship. Xu Kai shared behind-the-scenes filming atmosphere with fans. A cultural highlight was a Thai dessert-tasting activity inspired by the series, blending the drama's world with Thai cultural experience.
Artist Xiao Aqi performed the theme song "Waiting," sharing its emotional depth and character meaning, while Kang Ziqi sang "Path," conveying the characters' journey and fate through music. The event concluded with Xu Kai inviting ten lucky fans on stage to play a memory game based on three-second glimpses of series clips, with Xu Kai revealing answers and behind-the-scenes stories.
