The charges include joint fraud, filing false statements with government officials, and extortion over threats for money. This follows her opponents filing a complaint accusing her of involvement in a 40-million-baht fraud scheme.
Accompanied by attorney Kung Anwaipon, Maem Vichuda's legal team stated that businesspeople previously sued the actress over a 40-million-baht fraud allegation, but after reviewing the documents, she has no involvement. Her team noted that at the time the 40-million-baht investment was transferred, she did not yet know the opposing party. The preliminary hearing involves three defendants, with her side presenting documentary evidence and two witnesses: Maem Vichuda and another individual.
Attorney Kung expressed confidence that documents prove the opposing party's allegations are false and that Maem Vichuda bears no responsibility. He noted that after suing her, the defendant also sued others whose cases were dismissed by the court, suggesting the filing was intended to harass or extort money. The defendant allegedly demanded 3 million baht for her name to be removed from the case.
Maem Vichuda stated she is 100 percent unafraid and confident, saying this situation arose suddenly. She emphasized she is prepared to defend her rights and seek justice, noting the incident stems from before COVID-19. She confirmed she has never committed fraud and has no involvement in the matters being prosecuted. The opposing party distributed court documents to multiple circles to damage her reputation, affecting her employment prospects.
Attorney Kung added that they have consistently been willing to resolve the matter, with no contact since the court summons. He stated that Maem Vichuda, who did not actually commit wrongdoing, will prove her innocence to others. He noted that had police arrested her on set, her reputation would have been destroyed. The court must now decide whether to accept her counterclaim. Regarding the incident where someone shouted "fraudster" at the airport, Maem Vichuda indicated she will soon file a defamation charge.
