Bali police are investigating the deaths of Australian man Damien John Shaw, 56, and his two children found dead in their bungalow in Kuta on Sunday, September 13. Shaw's wife, who was in Jakarta, called a neighbour after hearing one of her children crying during a phone conversation with her husband; she was subsequently unable to contact him again. When neighbours knocked on the bungalow door and received no response, they entered and found the bodies of all three family members. Australian media reported that police are treating the case as a suspected murder-suicide, but authorities have not yet determined the exact cause or manner of death and say further examinations will be conducted. Roger Cook, the member of parliament for Western Australia representing Shaw's home state, said the incident was deeply tragic and expressed hope that the true cause would be established quickly.
