Five Indian Tourists Report Theft of 24,000 Baht by Thai Women

Five Indian tourists reported to Pattaya City Police on the evening of September 14 that they were robbed of cash totalling 24,000 baht by five Thai women who had taken them to a luxury five-star hotel in North Pattaya, Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri province. Police Lieutenant Nuchattr Chanthakarant, an investigator at Pattaya City Station, said the complaint was filed at 7 p.m. on September 14.

According to an Indian tour guide named Bom, age 37, who was leading a group of about 200 Indian tourists, he found five members of his group crying and distressed on Koh Larn island because they had no money left to buy food or souvenirs to take home before their scheduled departure on September 15. When questioned about their missing funds, the five men explained that they had each met Thai women at Pattaya Beach on September 13, and the women had taken them to a hotel where they agreed to pay for services. After the encounters ended and the women left, the men discovered that cash ranging from 3,000 to 7,000 baht had been stolen from each of them.

One of the victims reported through the tour guide that when he tried to confront the Thai women about the missing money, he was physically threatened and intimidated, with demands for additional payment. The incident escalated to the point that hotel staff had to intervene before the women fled the premises. The tourists were able to photograph some of the women and provided the images to police as evidence. Thai authorities have expressed regret over the incident and its potential impact on Pattaya's reputation.
