Foreign Tourist Dies After Cosmetic Procedure at Bangkok Clinic

A British influencer visiting Thailand died suddenly after receiving genital enlargement injections at a clinic in Bangkok's Pathumwan district. Public Health Minister Pattana Prom-pattana said the incident may harm the reputation and public confidence in Thai healthcare facilities. To ensure fairness and restore confidence among both Thai and foreign patients that they receive quality, standard care, relevant agencies have been ordered to investigate the facts.

Initial findings show that on March 5, a private hospital in the Sukhumvit area admitted the patient unconscious. His wife told medical staff he had just received dermal filler injections and subsequently went for a massage. Suspecting blood clots, the hospital prepared to diagnose vascular disease using X-ray imaging with contrast dye. During the procedure, the patient lost consciousness and had no pulse. The medical team began CPR but there was no response, and the patient was pronounced dead.

Dr. Phuwadet Sura-kote, director of the Health Service Support Department, reported that officials inspected the clinic and found the patient had been a regular client since 2567 (2024), receiving five genital enlargement procedures. The first four occurred between 2567-68, with the fifth on March 5, 2569, when 40 cc of filler was injected. Although doctors recommended dividing the injection into two sessions, the patient requested a single injection. The patient signed consent forms before each visit and reported no complications. Officials have completed witness statements and are gathering evidence to refer the case to the Medical Council for professional standard assessment.
