Minister Wades Into Nonthaburi Floods, Urges All Agencies Into Action
A state minister visited flood-stricken Pong Phet village in Nonthaburi on September 27 to assess damage and coordinate relief efforts across nine affected provinces in central Thailand.
Minister of State Suphamas Israpakit visited flood-hit Pong Phet village in Nonthaburi province on September 27 to assess the situation. The visit was one of nine provinces assigned by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and the Interior Minister for monitoring and coordination of government operations in the region. Suphamas met with affected residents, delivered relief supplies, and gathered urgent requests to report to the cabinet meeting, where flood response measures will be discussed.
During the visit, Suphamas inspected water levels at the village entrance, surveyed conditions by elevated vehicle, visited patients at Saengchan Market, distributed essential goods through community leaders, and monitored water-pumping operations. She stated that the Prime Minister is deeply concerned about flood victims and has instructed all agencies to prioritize safety and assistance, especially for the elderly, disabled, bedridden patients, and children.
Suphamas emphasized that relief efforts must be continuous and proactive, with officials reaching every household without waiting for ministerial inspections. She urged coordination across all ministries, noting that the Interior Ministry is maintaining 24-hour alerts in all districts, while the Royal Irrigation Department manages water through dams and canals, and the Department of Water Resources has deployed pumps in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Singburi, and Saraburi provinces to drain floodwaters.
