Police Link Hospital Theft Suspect to Crimes in 11 Facilities
A 54-year-old man arrested in Kalasin has confessed to stealing from Yangtalad Hospital and is now linked to thefts at 11 hospitals across seven Northeastern provinces between February and July.
Khon Kaen police are accelerating identification procedures for a suspect arrested in Kalasin on charges of stealing from patients and visitors at Yangtalad Hospital and allegedly committing similar crimes across 11 hospitals in seven Northeastern provinces. Police from Khao Suan Kwang station are examining the suspect's physical features and tattoos to determine links to thefts at other facilities throughout the Isaan region. Lieutenant Colonel Pirannart Ngomlertratcjai, commander of Khao Suan Kwang station, revealed that the suspect is identified as Songuan, 54, from Nong Lek subdistrict in Sikharam district, Surin province, who has confessed to the Yangtalad Hospital theft and to committing robberies across various areas of the Northeast.
Police are comparing physical descriptions, tattoos, and other identifying features visible in evidence to establish connections. If investigative findings and evidence confirm links to crimes in the Khao Suan Kwang area, officers will compile evidence for submission to court to request an arrest warrant and detention. Connections to thefts at other hospitals remain pending verification of identity and complete evidence collection from each jurisdiction.
Based on coordination with police stations across the region, victims have reported similar nighttime thefts from 11 hospitals in seven provinces between February 22 and July 22, 2025. Incidents were reported at Rindhorn Hospital in Ubon Ratchathani, Khao Suan Kwang Hospital in Khon Kaen, Kraseang Hospital in Buriram, hospitals in Si Sa Ket, Nakhon Phanom, Nong Saad Hospital in Udon Thani, Lam Plai Mat Hospital in Buriram, Khong Chiam Hospital in Ubon Ratchathani, Muang Sam Sip Hospital in Ubon Ratchathani, hospitals in Amnat Charoen, and Thatphanom Hospital in Nakhon Phanom.
