Rocky Bewildered By Defamation Suit Over Family Stories

Rocky Surabodindra Sambaticharoen, a well-known actor and DJ, has been served with a defamation lawsuit from Diana, the current wife of Surachai Sambaticharoen. Rocky appeared at a press event launching a radio drama project titled "Raindrops and Lace" at SCG Home on Sukhumvit Road to update reporters on the case.

When asked about the current status of the legal proceedings, Rocky said: "We're waiting for the first meeting with the lawyer. The case hasn't reached the trial stage yet. We need to meet first to understand the details of the case."

Regarding the defamation charge, Rocky explained: "It's about statements made when my family, my mother, and siblings appeared on a few radio programmes. When I read the details, I had questions. Some of what was mentioned are facts that actually happened in our family and our home. I wondered why other people would be concerned with our family matters or our story, especially since we were just discussing things on the programme."

When asked how many lawsuits and charges he faces, Rocky said: "Mainly one charge, both against me and my mother, regarding defamation. As I mentioned, we talked about our own home. Many people were with us at those times. We mainly discussed our own affairs and didn't talk much about other people. We spoke about it from a mother-child perspective. Honestly, I'm still confused about what exactly is being alleged."

Asked which specific words are cited as defamatory, Rocky responded: "That's exactly what I want to know. When I looked at it, some things are just facts. Regarding my mother, perhaps they don't know what documents she has. If we released every episode, my mother probably has over ten episodes' worth of material. We didn't say anything that goes beyond the truth or added extra emotion. Everyone has seen us. We were just having a discussion on the programme. That's fine. I'll leave it to the legal professionals to handle properly."

When asked if he is worried, Rocky said: "I'm not worried about being sued. But I am concerned about the emotional impact on my family. To be honest, as a man, everyone can see that since this issue started, I've tried to say as little as possible. My mother and siblings have also tried to speak minimally. Truthfully, even today I don't want to talk about this much.

"Even as a man, seeing this situation doesn't feel good. This isn't just about my family. If this happened to any family, my mother is a woman, my sister is a woman. When they have to see these stories and this situation happen again, or when it doesn't end, it gets worse. Even though we're trying to stay quiet, they don't feel good about it. It's not just my family. Anyone watching or any family, especially women, I believe they would feel even more than I do."

When asked if his mother is stressed and worried, Rocky said: "I haven't asked my mother directly about that. But from my perspective as a son and as a brother, I believe she feels something. I believe she feels it every time she's mentioned, whether positively, correctly, or incorrectly. And we can tell she's down. Sometimes I'm asked if I'm down—honestly, sometimes I am. But today, as the eldest and the only man in the house, I have to be strong for them."
