Royal Thai Silk Festival Opens in Khon Kaen
Thailand's Four-Region Quality Silk Festival opens September 23–27 in Khon Kaen, showcasing sericulture heritage and traditional techniques from across the country while creating market opportunities for silk farmers and producers.
The Department of Sericulture is hosting the 2025 Four-Region Quality Silk Festival from September 23–27 at Central Plaza Khon Kaen. Under the theme 'One Silk, One Timeless Value. Four Regions, Four Wisdoms, One Value of Thai Silk,' the event aims to showcase the cultural heritage, local knowledge, and identity of Thai silk production while creating market opportunities for farmers, producers, and silk entrepreneurs.
The opening ceremony on September 23 will be presided over by Theerachai Sanankaew, advisor to the deputy minister of agriculture and cooperatives, alongside senior officials from the Department of Sericulture, provincial representatives, government and private sector partners, entrepreneurs, honored guests, and media. The festival will present Thai silk stories through the distinct knowledge and techniques unique to each region, tracing the entire production journey from silkworm rearing and sericulture to weaving and contemporary product development. Each region has its own techniques and heritage, yet all are united by a shared value in Thai silk craftsmanship passed down through generations.
"Thai silk represents the nation's valuable cultural and intellectual heritage, with each region possessing unique techniques and stories," said Theerachai Sanankaew. "This event is an important opportunity to bring together the wisdom of all four regions and present the multifaceted value of Thai silk to the public, while helping farmers, producers, and entrepreneurs build on that heritage, increase value, and expand their markets."
The festival will feature 35 vendors from across Thailand selling quality silk products that blend cultural identity and local wisdom into contemporary goods. Over the five days, visitors will enjoy silk-weaving demonstrations, workshops, silk cocoon crafts, community product presentations, panel discussions on silk and regional heritage, and stage performances connecting Thai silk from its roots to modern innovation.
The Department of Sericulture invites the public, tourists, and silk enthusiasts to experience the stories of Thai silk traditions, browse quality products, and support Thai silk farmers and entrepreneurs nationwide.
