Woman, 24, Shot Dead in Pickup Ambush Attack

At 3:00 a.m. on September 26, Phraprom police in Nakhon Si Thammarat received a report of a shooting at Saphan Taksin market intersection in Na Phru subdistrict. One person was killed and another injured. Police Lieutenant Colonel Tatthep Klamem, commanding officer of Phraprom Police Station, along with Deputy Commander Sanchai Guhame, medical personnel, and relief workers rushed to the scene.
At the location, officers found a white Toyota sedan stopped in the middle of the road. The driver, identified as Ms. A, 24, from Thung Song district in Nakhon Si Thammarat, had been shot in the right temple and died at the wheel. Police Sergeant Shivakorn, a friend of the victim, was traveling in the car and sustained severe gunshot wounds before being transported to hospital. A third passenger remained unharmed.
Investigation revealed the victim had worked at a cafe in Thung Song and had invited friends to celebrate her birthday at an entertainment venue in Nakhon Si Thammarat. After leaving the venue, she drove the sedan with Shivakorn and another friend to return home, stopping at a petrol station near Na Phru intersection. Upon leaving the station and approaching a red light at the market, an unidentified pickup truck pulled alongside. A suspect in the pickup's left seat fired a gun repeatedly at the victim without stopping, killing her at the steering wheel. Shivakorn sustained severe injuries from gunfire while the third passenger was unhurt. The pickup accelerated and fled the scene.
Commandeering Officer Tatthep Klamem stated that investigators discovered the pickup had been parked at the petrol station watching and waiting. The suspects, believed to number at least two—one driving and one shooting—appeared to know the victim. Police are investigating the motive as possibly related to a love triangle, as the victim had a boyfriend. Security camera footage from various locations has provided leads identifying the suspects, and police are expediting their investigation to arrest and prosecute those responsible.
