Bangkok and the Special Area Development Organization for Sustainable Tourism (SAOT) are preparing to host the Thailand Creative Cities Network: TCCN Forum 2026 from August 5-7, 2026, under the theme "Creative Cities Connect: Connecting People, Culture, Creativity, and Sustainability." The three-day event will feature study tours and knowledge-sharing sessions, with the main activities and public exhibitions scheduled for Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Bangkok Railway Station (Hua Lamphong).
The forum will bring together representatives from nine Thai creative cities: Phuket, Phetchaburi, and Songkhla (food); Bangkok and Chiang Rai (design); Suphan Buri (music); Chiang Mai, Sukhothai, and Nan (craft and folk art). International participants include Berlin, Germany (City of Design); Cebu, Philippines (City of Design); Jakarta, Indonesia (City of Literature); and Echizen, Japan (City of Craft and Folk Art).
Key highlights include opening ceremonies, special addresses on Bangkok's role in UNESCO's creative cities network and funding strategies for creative city development, a presentation on "Creative Cities as Drivers of Sustainable Tourism" by UNESCO Bangkok representatives, and panel discussions on financing and advancing creative cities across sectors. The event will also feature exhibitions showcasing the identity and potential of creative cities, cultural performances, and creative economy initiatives.
The public can visit exhibitions and participate in activities free of charge on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM at Bangkok Railway Station (Hua Lamphong). Optional technical tours are available: a Bangkok design city tour on August 5, and a Pattaya film industry development tour on August 7 in Chon Buri Province.
