Thai Weather Agency Issues Sixth Warning for Nationwide Storms
The Thai Meteorological Department has issued its sixth weather warning for volatile conditions across upper Thailand from October 4 to 7, 2026. Expect thunderstorms, strong gusts and heavy to very heavy rain in the North, Northeast, Central and Bangkok areas, with risks of flash floods and high seas. Residents and mariners are urged to take precautions and follow updates.
On October 4, the upper North and East, plus the Northeast, are forecast to receive heavy rain, with provinces such as Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai and Phitsanulok in the North, and Loei, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Yasothon, Kalasin, Roi Et, Amnat Charoen, Si Sa Ket and Ubon Ratchathani in the Northeast affected. On October 5‑6, heavy to very heavy rain is expected in the North (Kamphaeng Phet, Phitsanulok, Phichit, Phetchabun), Central (Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chainat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya) and heavy rain in additional northern and northeastern provinces, while the Northeast sees decreasing rain. By October 7, the western parts of the North and Central regions will experience the weather. The department warns of possible flash floods, advises against sheltering under trees or weak billboards, and notes that Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand waves may exceed two metres, urging mariners to check routes and avoid thunderstorm areas. The outlook for October 8‑13 indicates continued rain over the East and South, with heavy falls in some places.
