American Navy personnel docking at Laem Chabang have revitalized Pattaya's tattoo business, with shops reporting significantly increased customer traffic after months of slow trade.
After a US Navy ship docked at Laem Chabang port in Chonburi province, American military personnel entered Pattaya for rest and recreation, bringing renewed business to many local enterprises, particularly tattoo shops experiencing a steady stream of uniformed customers.
Bee, a manager at Glory Tattoo Pattaya located in Soi 8, Central Pattaya Beach, Nong Proo subdistrict, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi province, revealed that the tattoo business in Pattaya had been quiet for months before the servicemen arrived. Customer traffic was sparse, the sois were empty, and business owners still faced constant expenses including rent, equipment costs, and staff wages.
Since the US military personnel began visiting Pattaya, however, customer numbers have increased significantly, bringing the atmosphere back to life and generating sufficient revenue to help offset rising operational costs.
The most popular tattoo designs among US servicemen are portraits, along with religious and spiritual imagery such as Jesus, angels, and devils, as well as designs reflecting personal stories and life experiences. Customers choose from full back pieces, arm tattoos, and leg work depending on individual preference.
Business owners view the arrival of American military personnel as a catalyst for restoring atmosphere and stimulating spending in Pattaya after the tattoo industry endured an extended period of decline.
