USS Abraham Lincoln Departs Thailand After Four-Day Port Call

The USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier departed Laem Chabang Port in Chonburi Province on September 6, 2024, concluding its port call to Thailand that ran from September 2 to 6. Around 11:00 a.m., the carrier began moving away from the dock and heading toward open waters after approximately 5,000 personnel had finished their shore leave and recreation in Pattaya and Chonburi Province.

The departure atmosphere was warm, with Thai officials and port personnel waving goodbye as some U.S. service members waved in return before the large aircraft carrier slowly left Laem Chabang Port.

This visit marked the USS Abraham Lincoln's return to Thailand after more than 14 years. The carrier arrived on September 2 with approximately 5,000 personnel after continuous maritime operations. The Thailand port call provided an opportunity for the crew to rest and recover while conducting supply and logistics operations. In addition to the USS Abraham Lincoln, escort vessels USS Frank E. Petersen Jr., which berthed in Siracha, Chonburi, and USS Robert Smalls, which proceeded to Map Ta Phut, Rayong, also visited Thai waters.

Throughout the visit, authorities in Chonburi Province, Pattaya, local administration, and police coordinated to implement security measures and facilitate the U.S. personnel at tourist destinations and along transportation routes between Pattaya and Laem Chabang Port. The departure of the USS Abraham Lincoln today concluded the Thailand visit amid exchanges of farewells between Thai officials and U.S. service members before the carrier headed back to sea after bringing activity and color to Pattaya's tourism atmosphere.
