A beauty clinic operating inside a well-known department store in Chiang Mai has agreed to refund 85,800 baht to a retired couple after staff members allegedly pressured them into purchasing skincare products and treatment courses and charged their credit card without authorization for nearly 100,000 baht. The couple's daughter went public with the complaint after her parents said they had not consented to the transaction and felt wronged.
On September 2, 2569, the Thai Consumer Protection Board intervened and facilitated negotiations between the two parties. The clinic agreed to refund the full amount to the victims, who expressed relief at resolving the matter. Both sides have withdrawn from pursuing further legal action against each other.
Authorities will continue investigating the incident and reviewing how such retail beauty booths operate to prevent similar complaints in the future. Chiang Mai Public Health has issued a warning to medical clinic operators and beauty shops within department stores, ordering them to cease aggressive customer solicitation and persuasion tactics in front of their outlets, as such practices violate regulations and the law.
