Motorcyclist's Final Gift: Organs Saved Five Lives
A 40-year-old motorcyclist from Nakhon Sawan died after a crash on wet roads and donated his organs, which saved five patients awaiting transplants including two cornea recipients, two kidney recipients, and one heart recipient.
On September 13, 2569, Phetchabun Hospital's Deputy Medical Director Dr. Sirichai Sorathathamrung presented a commendation certificate from the Thai Red Cross to the family of Marvin, 40, from Wang Saan subdistrict, Mae Wong district, Nakhon Sawan, who died in a motorcycle accident and donated his organs to help five other patients.
Dr. Sirichai explained that Marvin was transferred from Khao Kho Hospital after suffering a motorcycle crash on wet roads that caused severe brain bleeding. Although doctors provided full treatment, he developed brain death, which is medically declared as death. Medical staff then informed the family of the organ donation program. The family confirmed that Marvin had expressed his wish to donate organs during his lifetime and were happy to fulfill his final wish. The donated organs—two corneas, two kidneys, and a heart—will help five other patients awaiting transplants.
Marlin Kaew-uan, Marvin's sister, revealed that her brother had been working in Khao Kho district for several years. On the day of the accident, he was riding his motorcycle on an errand when it skidded due to rain and wet roads. Officers transported him to Khao Kho Hospital and then transferred him to Phetchabun Hospital. When he developed brain death, staff informed the family about organ donation. Although the family was grieving, they agreed, especially since her brother had previously registered his wish to donate with the hospital. They chose to honor his final wish.
Though Marvin's passing brought sorrow to his family, their decision to donate his organs transformed their loss into an act of great compassion. His organs will save lives and help patients awaiting their chance to live on. The family believes this merit will guide his spirit to a better realm. His body will be taken to his birthplace in Nakhon Sawan for a merit-making funeral ceremony.
