The Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency signed a cooperation agreement with seven agricultural and environmental agencies including the Agricultural Economics Office, Department of Agriculture, Department of Livestock, Department of Fisheries, Department of Agricultural Extension, Department of Rice, and the Department of Climate Change and Environment. The five-year framework aims to integrate energy efficiency and renewable technologies into farming operations ranging from crop and rice production to livestock and aquaculture.
The collaboration seeks to embed energy analysis and renewable technology selection into agricultural production processes to lower costs and increase productivity while advancing low-carbon agriculture and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Each participating agency will contribute specialized support: the Agricultural Economics Office will provide statistical data and economic analysis; the Department of Agriculture will link crop research to energy technology; the Department of Agricultural Extension will scale innovations to farming groups nationwide; the Department of Livestock will focus on farm management and biogas production from animal waste; the Department of Fisheries will improve energy efficiency in aquaculture systems; and the Department of Rice will connect rice production research to renewable energy solutions. The Department of Climate Change and Environment will align energy use with the country's greenhouse gas reduction targets and develop a measurement and reporting system to track emissions reductions.
