Teenagers Fire On House, Wounding 39-Year-Old Man
A 39-year-old man was shot multiple times and critically injured at his home in Ang Thong Province on September 28 when a group of teenagers in three vehicles opened fire on the house before fleeing the scene.
At 8 p.m. on September 28, police from Mueang Ang Thong Station received a report of a man shot and critically injured at a house in Moo 8, Ban It Subdistrict, Mueang District, Ang Thong Province. Officers rushed to the scene with forensic staff to investigate. The injured man, Somjin, 39, was struck by an unidentified firearm in the back, left shin, and left arm and was rushed to Ang Thong Hospital for emergency treatment.
According to Bunsong Yamsrvwal, the subdistrict chief, he was inspecting a power outage area about 400 meters from the shooting when he saw three vehicles pull up along the road and heard multiple gunshots erupt toward the house before the cars sped away. Jirpun, 33, the injured man's brother, stated that Somjin had no known enemies and regularly drank with friends at a roadside spot, but today three vehicles came and fired on the house, hitting him on the second floor where he was sleeping. Sompis, 68, the injured man's mother, said her son had finished eating and gone to bed on the second floor when the shooting started; she does not know who attacked him, though gunfire had been heard the previous night as well.
Dechaawat, 22, who was driving a sealed delivery van parked nearby, said he was preparing to drive to Kanchanaburi when his vehicle was riddled with bullets. Chana Saengjaru, 28, a friend of the injured man's brother, identified the attackers as a group of three to four teenagers in three vehicles who drove up at speed, fired toward the front of the injured man's house, and fled. Police found three spent shell casings at the scene and CCTV footage showing three suspicious vehicles—two sedans and one pickup truck. Authorities are gathering evidence and pursuing leads to track down the perpetrators.
