PM Confident US Tax Talks Will Succeed

Prime Minister Anuthun Charnweerakul expressed confidence that ongoing US tariff negotiations led by Deputy PM and Commerce Minister Supachai Suthammaphan will succeed, saying there is no way they will fail. Thailand exports goods worth 125 billion US dollars to the United States and enjoys a trade surplus of nearly 70 billion dollars. The PM argued that rejecting the deal to protect other sectors would ultimately harm broader trade interests, and that Thailand must find acceptable terms with the US as a major power. He emphasized that the remaining issues are matters of dignity rather than simple commerce, and that negotiations are now near completion. The PM stressed that Thailand cannot afford to take sides exclusively with either China or the United States, as it lacks the power to stand independently. He urged confidence in Thailand's Foreign Ministry and their clear understanding of how to maintain the country's strategic position while using current circumstances for national development.
